The New African Magazine has named President William Ruto as one of the most influential African leaders. The honor comes one month after he was listed as one of the 100 most important leaders by the US publication “Time Magazine.”

President Ruto has been leading the push for innovative climate finance solutions for Africa and the world community, demonstrating his commitment to tackling climate-related issues that go beyond environmental concerns.

Ruto has been advocating for visa-free travel within the continent by eliminating visa requirements for all African visitors. According to Ruto, the goal of this calculated action is to make Africa more connected.

Ruto established himself as a serious global leader at the inaugural African Climate Summit in Nairobi in September 2023. He also secured US$2.3 billion in green funding for the continent, made a strong statement about new global taxes, and restructured the financial system, all of which provided a backdrop for the COP 28 Summit in the United Arab Emirates.

Akinwumi Adesina, the president of the African Development Bank, Senegalese opposition leader Ousmane Sonko, and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu are among the other notable African leaders who made the list of Africa’s 100 most influential leaders.
