Kenyans are not happy with President William Ruto’s and his administration’s overall performance in one year in office.
This is in line with the results of a year-end survey carried out by the research firm Infotrak, which were made public on Friday.
In the survey, which was conducted on December 18 and 19, Kenyans gave President Ruto’s overall performance in 2023 a grade of D, while his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, receiving the lowest grade of E.
Cabinet Secretaries, the National Assembly, the Senate, the judiciary, the police, the opposition, and county governments all received a D-from the public, suggesting that they were not happy with their performance.
The survey indicates that the high cost of living is the main concern of 56% of Kenyans and that they want addressed as a matter of priority.
The cost of fuel comes in second at 33%, unemployment is at 27%, access to affordable healthcare is at 15%, corruption is at 13%, and food security is at 13% of Kenyans’ concerns, after high taxes at 36%.
According to the poll, the percentage of Kenyans who believe their country is headed in the wrong direction has increased from 55 percent to 61 percent, a 7 percent increase from December 2022.
“Currently, three out of five Kenyans express unhappiness with the country’s current trajectory. This sentiment is particularly strong among 64% women and almost 7 in I 0 youth aged 18-25 years.”
