Three Kenya Power Board Members Pushed Out Amid Leadership Wrangles

Three Kenya Power board members have been forced to resign amid leadership wrangles facing the state company.

The three include Eng. Elizabeth Rogo, Eng. Abdulrazaq Ali, and Dr. Caroline Kittony-Waiyaki, who were serving as independent directors.

“The Board of Directors of The Kenya Power and Lighting Company PLC hereby announces the resignation of Eng. Elizabeth Rogo, Eng. Abdulrazaq Ali, and Dr. Caroline Kittony-Waiyaki as Independent Directors of the Company to pursue other personal interests,” Kenya Power said in a statement.

“The Company would like to sincerely thank the Directors for their commitment and dedicated service, and wishes them all the best in their future endeavours.”

This comes two weeks after former acting CEO Eng. Rosemary Oduor was pushed out, and in her place Eng. Geoffrey Wasua Muli was appointed as the Acting Managing Director with effect from May 17, 2022.

Eng. Muli holds a Master of Business Administration (Strategic Option); Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Administration (Strategic Option). He is a Registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and a Corporate Member of the Institute of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).

Prior to his appointment, he was the acting General Manager in charge of Regional Coordination in the Company.
