YouTube has introduced its premium subscription service, YouTube Premium, in Kenya. The service provides users with an ad-free, offline, and background playback experience for both YouTube and YouTube Music.

Starting at KES 499 per month, subscribers to YouTube Premium can enjoy uninterrupted access to a vast library of videos without the hassle of advertisements. The subscription also allows users to download videos, enabling them to watch content offline, whether they are on the go or without access to Wi-Fi.

One of the standout features of YouTube Premium is background play, which enables users to continue watching videos even while using other apps or with their device screen locked. This functionality enhances multitasking and provides a seamless viewing experience.

The subscription plan is not one-size-fits-all, as YouTube offers different options to cater to diverse user needs. The individual plan, priced at KES 499 per month, comes with the benefits of ad-free content, offline access, and background play.

For families looking to share the Premium experience, there is a family plan priced at KES 949 per month. This plan allows the addition of up to five family members (ages 13 and above) in the same household, each with their own personalized account and access to the premium features.

In a bid to support students, YouTube also introduces a student plan at KES 289 per month, with a one-month free trial. Eligible students can avail themselves of this plan, which requires annual verification.

YouTube Premium not only caters to video enthusiasts but also offers a dedicated experience for music lovers. Subscribers gain ad-free access to the YouTube Music app, featuring over 100 million songs, personalized mixes, and playlists for every mood.
