The leaders also accuse the CSs of engaging in political activities, with Ngeno asserting that they are “drunk with power” and manipulating their positions to favor specific regions in resource allocation.
A recent event presided over by CS Ababu Namwamba, the unveiling of Kiprugut Chumo Stadium (formerly Kericho Green Stadium), drew attention as it was boycotted by all local elected leaders. Namwamba faced allegations of excluding local leadership from the event, with some claiming they were only invited to a morning meeting and not mobilized to attend the function.
Similar incidents involving Cabinet Secretaries have transpired, such as CS Murkomen being jeered by residents of Baringo County. These occurrences underscore the mounting dissatisfaction with government policies, including increased taxation, and a perceived disconnect with some Cabinet Secretaries.
Despite the controversies, Cabinet Secretaries assert their commitment to implementing government programs and contend that the criticism is politically motivated.
