NTSA sets timelines for collection of number plates and logbooks

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued a call to action for motor vehicle owners, dealers, and financial institutions to collect thousands of unclaimed number plates and logbooks from its designated offices. This initiative is part of NTSA’s ongoing efforts to streamline vehicle documentation and enhance road safety across the country.

In a statement from the NTSA Director General, the authority stressed the importance of this collection process, stating that vehicle owners must return their old plates and previous logbooks when picking up their new reflective number plates and logbooks. A valid identification document is also required for collection. This ensures that the process is secure and that all documentation is current.

NTSA has established clear timelines for the collection of these essential documents. Motorists can expect their new number plates to be ready for collection within seven working days, while logbooks will be available within three days. “We urge all vehicle owners, dealers, and financial institutions to prioritize this task,” NTSA emphasized.

The authority underscored the responsibility of motor vehicle owners in keeping their documentation up-to-date. “Collecting number plates and logbooks not only fulfills a legal requirement but also promotes road safety and accountability,” NTSA added. By ensuring that all vehicles are properly documented, the authority aims to reduce instances of road-related incidents and enhance overall traffic management.
