The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has announced plans to conduct grassroots elections in 22 counties on April 11th and 12th, 2025. This marks the second phase of the UDA’s electoral process, following successful elections in five counties earlier.

According to a statement from UDA Chairperson Hon. Gov. Cecily Mbarire, the elections will take place in counties including Bungoma, Garissa, Kisumu, Mombasa, and Turkana, among others. A total of 113,800 candidates have so far registered to contest in these polls. Registration remains open until midnight on Friday, March 21, 2025, via the party’s online portal, UDA.ke.

“These elections represent a pivotal moment in our journey towards strengthening democracy in our nation. Grassroots elections are vital in ensuring that the voices of our communities are heard and represented,” Mbarire stated.

The UDA is committed to a participatory leadership model and ensuring transparency in the electoral process. To facilitate smooth elections, the party has procured over 10,000 digital devices that will support electronic voting. This system is expected to deliver “open, free, fair and instantaneous results at polls closure,” according to the statement.

Mbarire emphasized the importance of citizen engagement in the political process, saying, “True democracy flourishes when every citizen has the opportunity to engage in the political process.”

As the UDA continues to prepare for the elections, the party’s digital approach aims to foster trust and efficiency in the voting process, ensuring every community gets the leadership it deserves.
