The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced the arrest of two men suspected of abducting a lady and stealing KES645,000 three days ago in Juja, Kiambu County.

According to the DCI, the suspects, were arrested after the car they were using was intercepted after a road chase with the police, moments after they abandoned the blindfolded victim at Githingiri Estate near Thika Greens Gatanga in Murang’a County.

While reporting her ordeal to the police, the female victim narrated to the police how the said vehicle, occupied by two men and a woman, had pulled over beside her on the morning of December 16, and one of the men flung the door open, forcing her to board lest she get seriously injured.

“Once inside, she was blindfolded and ordered to give her mobile money and bank account PINs, where over KES585,000 was withdrawn and transferred to six registered lines, and another KES80,000 in cash was stolen from her purse,” the DCI stated.

Additionally, the DCI stated that upon the woman cooperating and issuing her belongings, she was thrown out of the vehicle at 8 p.m. that night.

“Good samaritans helped her to Samuru police station, where she formally reported before the case was referred to the operations team.

The police added that they conducted an ID parade where the victim identified the two suspects, who were later presented before a magistrate at Kiambu Law Courts. The DCI further confirmed that they had been granted custodial orders to carry out further investigations.
