The Kenyan government has set up labor attache offices in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE to support Kenyan workers in these Gulf nations, according to Labour CS Florence Bore.
The announcement was made during the flagging off departure ceremony for a group of migrant workers headed to Saudi Arabia and Qatar at the National Employment Authority (NEA) in Kasarani. This initiative reflects the government’s dedication to expanding employment opportunities for its citizens.
“I assure you that the support mechanisms in place will ensure your well-being is taken care of which is of utmost importance to us. We are committed to addressing any complains or queries received promptly and effectively,” Bore said.
The workers have been advised to report any distress through a Toll-free number or access a website created by the government.
“We have established reporting mechanisms where individuals can make enquiries or report any issues they may encounter while at work. This can be done through the Toll-Free number, 0800222223, or the distress reporting form which can be accessed at www.neaims.go.ke,” she elaborated.
In extending her congratulations to the migrant workers, she emphasized the significance of recognizing that they serve as ambassadors for the nation, embodying the resilience, talent, and diligence of the Kenyan people.
Additionally, she encouraged the migrants to embrace the dreams and aspirations of a nation that holds firm belief in their capabilities.
The CS also added that the Kenya Kwanza government, through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation (BETA), places a strong emphasis on labor migration as part of its commitment to fostering more employment opportunities for citizens, acknowledging its potential for economic development.
She highlighted that the flag-off event signifies the government’s dedication to this endeavour, aiming to create employment avenues for Kenyans in countries with high labour demand, thereby allowing them to acquire valuable skills, contribute to the economy through remittances, and bring back technological advancements from their experiences abroad,
