South Korean Parliament Speaker Kim Jin Pyo has promised to review the existing laws and regulations to offer more job opportunities for Kenyans.
Speaking after an address by President William Ruto to the parliament in Seoul, Jin said that he will hold talks with the relevant authorities, including the labour ministry, to see how they can navigate the issue.
“On employment opportunities, I will hold discussions with the Ministry of Labour and see how this can be enhanced for Kenyans,” said Jin.

Jin’s commitment came after President William Ruto implored the country’s legislature to relook into the laws governing trade between the two countries to make them more friendly.
The head of state, who is in the Asian country for a three-day state visit, is looking forward to strengthening economic ties between the two nations, with his main focus being job opportunities and value addition for Kenyan agricultural products.
“We must move from processing 5 percent of our tea to 50 percent in the next five years and in 10 years’ time we should be able to process every gram of tea grown in Kenya,” Said President Ruto.
“We have about 300 Kenyans in South Korea, the next time I come to South Korea I hope we will have 10,000 Kenyan youth working here.”

Ruto is also scheduled to hold talks with the host President Yoon Suk Yeol, with the discussions expected to centre around technology, education and health.
The president’s delegation to Seoul includes Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua, Trade CS Moses Kuria, Health CS Susan Nakhumicha and First Lady Rachel Ruto.
