Following Thursday night’s accident, Sakaja underscored that the emergency response teams in the county are currently on-site and on high alert, prepared to offer essential support. Simultaneously, all County Health and Medical teams are actively managing the situation, collaborating closely with the County Disaster and Risk Management teams to provide ongoing assistance to the victims of the fire incident.
In response to the unfortunate event, the Governor expressed heartfelt wishes for a swift recovery to those affected and injured. Senator Sakaja conveyed the Nairobi City County Government’s solidarity, stating, “The Nairobi City County Government stands in prayer with our sisters and brothers in Embakasi subcounty who last night were gravely affected by a devastating fire incident.”
He also extended condolences, saying, “May the Almighty rest in peace the souls of those who lost their lives in this unfortunate incident.”
Deputy Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja reported that the death toll in the Embakasi fire tragedy has now reached three, with more than 200 individuals admitted with serious injuries.
According to the government spokesman Isaac Mwaura 222 Kenyans were injured by the fire incident last night and have been rushed to various hospitals.
Some 21 survivors are at the Kenyatta National Hospital, 160 at Mama Lucy General Hospital, 19 at Mbagathi Hospital, 14 at the Modern Komarock Hospital, and eight at Nairobi West Hospital.
