Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has taken it to his X account to lament over the fact that he was not among those awarded during the 60th Jamuhuri Day celebrations at the Uhuru Gardens on Tuesday.

He alleged that it was President William Ruto who denied him that chance.

Sifuna, who is also the Deputy Senate minority whip and a member of the Senate’s Committees on Energy, Roads, Transportation, Housing, and County Public Accounts, was nominated for the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS)  award by the parliament.

“I respect Ruto’s decision to deny me the national honors I had been nominated for. I always suspected the disdain was mutual,”Sifuna twitted.

The senator went on to thank the parliament for the nomination he got. He further congratulated all those who made the final lists of awards.

On Tuesday, the President bestowed orders, honors, and medals upon a number of Kenyans in various categories.

Awards are issued by the president upon the advice of a National Honors and Awards Committee in the president’s office.
