Ruto hands MKU founder Simon Gicharu key role as KICD chief

President William Samoei Ruto has appointed Simon Gicharu as the Chairperson of the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development for a three-year term. This appointment effectively replaces Elishiba Njambi Kimani.

The Gazette Notice also disclosed the appointment of Naomi Shaban as the Chairperson of the Tobacco Control Board, with effect from October 13, 2023. This appointment supersedes the previous Chair, Khama Rogo.

Additionally, Job Chirchir has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Water Services Regulatory Board for a three-year term. The former Chair, Simon Gicharu, has been removed from this position.

In a similar vein, Titus Kipkoech Korir is now appointed as the Chairperson of the Kenya Forest Service, taking over from Job Chirchir.

Moving beyond these appointments, Nelson Dzuya has been appointed as a member of the Non-Governmental Organization Co-ordination Board for a three-year period, effective from October 13, 2023.

The Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, Njuguna Ndung’u, appointed George Okeyo as a member of the Board of Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis, starting on October 13, 2023.

Under the Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya Act, Nancy Gathuku has been appointed as a member of the Registration of Certified Public Secretaries Board, commencing her three-year term on October 13, 2023.

The gazette notice also included the revocation of appointments. Stephen Lmosta Lekupe and Erastus Kimuri have been revoked as members of the Kenya Trade Network Agency Board.

Jane Cheptoo Masai has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority, with effect from October 13, 2023.

Zakayo Maina is now a member of the Board of Pyrethrum Processing Company of Kenya, with a term beginning on October 13, 2023.

Joel Kibe has been appointed as a member of the Council of the University of Nairobi, commencing from October 13, 2023.

Under the Forest Conservation and Management Act, Jane Simita Munka has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Forest Service. This appointment replaces Zakayo Maina.

In the same notice, Angwenyi Jimmy Nuru Ondieki has been appointed as the Chairperson and Gitu Kahengeri as a member of the National Heroes Council for a three-year term, starting on October 13, 2023.

Erastus Kimuri has been appointed as a member of the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute Board for a one-year term, beginning on October 13, 2023.

Lastly, Stephen Lekupe has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Ewaso Ngiro North River Basin Development Authority, for a one-year term, effective from October 13, 2023.
