In a disturbing incident, a 28-year-old woman was apprehended on Tuesday, April 2, following accusations of multiple stabbings inflicted upon her husband, an elite unit police officer, at their residence.
Vincent Kiprotich, identified as the victim, was on temporary leave to reunite with his family, as per a police report obtained by Sharp Daily. Kiprotich served with the Special Operation Group (SOG) stationed in Wargadud, Mandera County. This elite border patrol unit is renowned for its rigorous training and deployment in high-risk areas, notably the North Eastern region.
Tragically, a domestic dispute escalated into a physical altercation between Kiprotich and his spouse, culminating in severe injuries. Hours later, the victim’s brother discovered Kiprotich’s lifeless body in their home, bearing multiple lacerations. Bloodstains marred the bedroom, indicative of the violent encounter.
Prompt response from Kiprotich’s colleagues and law enforcement personnel facilitated his swift transport to a local hospital in Eldama Ravine. Despite medical efforts, Kiprotich succumbed to his injuries due to excessive blood loss.
Authorities, including the Sub-County Police Commander, Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU) Commander, and officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), promptly initiated investigations. The crime scene, meticulously examined, yielded critical evidence, notably a blood-stained machete believed to be the murder weapon.
In a subsequent development, the suspect, identified as the victim’s wife, was apprehended at a location approximately 6 kilometers from Esageri Police Station in Baringo.
The incident underscores the complexities and tragedies often associated with domestic conflicts, even within law enforcement families. Investigations into the matter remain ongoing as authorities seek to establish a comprehensive understanding of the events leading to the untimely demise of Vincent Kiprotich.
