Nairobi Water has stated that there will be water scarcity in parts of the country’s capital for 24 hours from Friday, December 15 to Saturday, December 16.

According to the company, the scarcity will be experienced due to the shut down of the Sasumua-Kabete pipeline to pave the way for repairs to leaks along the pipeline, which, if not controlled, could lead to landslides.

The areas that will be affected include Kilimani, Westlands, Parklands, Loresho, Kangemi, Uthiru, Karen, Kawangware, Lavington, Riruta, areas along Waiyaki Way, James Gichuru Road, Dennis Pritt Road, Ngong Road, Langata Road, Peponi Road, Kikuyu Road, Naivasha Road, Mbagathi, and Riverside Drive.

“We appeal to our customers for indulgence and also urge them to use available water sparingly as we work towards restoring the supply,” said Nairobi Water Managing Director Engineer Nahashon Muguna.

Nairobi has been under water rationing since 2017, forcing the majority of the population to use borehole water or water that is sold by vendors for outrageous prices.
