The removal from office of the four dissenting Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, IEBC, commissioners is expected to kick off today after Nyandarua Senator John Methu tables the motion on the floor of the Senate.
This comes after the senator received greenlight to table the notice of motion, having filed the petition last week.
The four, Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera, commissioners Francis Wanderi, Justus Nyaganya and Irene Masit, are accused of conspiring to sabotage the August 9th election against the will of the people.
The parliamentary method is one of the ways Kenya Kwanza politicians are using to get the commissioners out of office, who they say attempted to deny President William Ruto his rightful win.

Other petitions filed in parliament pushing for the removal of the four are that of Garissa Township Member of Parliament and Defense Cabinet Secretary nominee Aden Duale and Farmers Party leader Irungu Nyakera.
According to Duale’s petition, the commissioners should be removed on the grounds of breach of their oaths and gross violation of the constitution.
“The commissioners’ conduct amounted to a betrayal of public trust of the people of Kenya, thereby rendering them unfit to continue holding their constitutional offices and or acting as such,” reads part of Duale’s petition.
The Kenya Kwanza loyalists want to kick out the commissioners ahead of Chebukati’s exit from office, as he was to proceed on terminal leave this month, awaiting the expiry of his term in January 2023.
