The National Land Commission (NLC) of Kenya has announced plans to allocate 375 parcels of land across five townships in Kajiado County. This move, officially communicated in a notice from NLC Chairman Gershom Otachi Bw’Omanwa, is part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to regularize land tenure for residential and mixed-use purposes. The parcels will be allocated in Kajiado, Bulbul, Isinya, Namanga, and Noonkopir townships, with Noonkopir receiving the largest allocation at 202 parcels.
The allocation is aimed at formalizing land ownership in the region, thus ensuring that beneficiaries can secure legal titles to their plots. As stipulated in section 14 of the Land Act 2012, these allocations are subject to certain terms, covenants, and conditions, which will be included in the conveyance documents.
The notice has called upon the general public and other interested parties to submit any comments regarding this allocation within 30 days of its publication. Additionally, the Commission has requested that any objections to the allocation be submitted within 15 days of the notice date. If no valid objections are raised, the NLC will proceed with the allocation at a designated session in its Nairobi offices, alongside representatives from the Kajiado County government.
In alignment with public consultation requirements, the terms of allocation are available for review at the NLC headquarters in Nairobi and the County Coordinator’s office in Kajiado. Interested parties may also inspect the ownership details at the relevant government offices during working hours.
