The Nairobi City County Government has called on rate defaulters, to settle any outstanding payments within a strict 14-day window commencing from May 2, 2024.
Governor Johnson Sakaja’s office has issued a notice directing affected individuals to promptly address their arrears by either visiting the NCCG Service Centre on the 1st Floor of City Hall or accessing rates invoices through the Nairobipay portal.
Emphasizing the urgency of the matter, the notice specifically targets owners associated with Land Registration System (LRS) numbers carrying balances as of April 11, 2024. It stipulates that payments must be made within the specified timeframe.
Additionally, the notice instructs individuals to procure their rates invoices from designated centers or through self-service on the Nairobipay online platform.
Patrick Analo, the County Secretary and Head of County Public Service, has underscored the accessibility of the list containing all LRS numbers with outstanding land balances, which is available on the official Nairobi County website.
For payment processing, customers are advised to utilize designated Nairobi City County Government revenue collection accounts, including those held at Cooperative Bank and Equity Bank.
These accounts must be used in conjunction with the invoices obtained through the aforementioned channels. Customers also have the option to utilize the USSD number *647# for payment facilitation.
Analo has issued a stern warning, cautioning that failure to adhere to the payment directive will result in enforcement actions in accordance with the law. The directive underscores the county government’s commitment to ensuring compliance with rates payments and maintaining fiscal responsibility within the municipality.
