Kevin Kang’ethe who stands accused of murdering a 31-year-old Kenyan woman, who resided in Massachusetts and whose body was found inside a vehicle at Boston’s Logan Airport, has since dropped the his two lawyers and is now representing himself

He on Tuesday 27, told the court his intentions to formally end his attorney-client relationship were “based on a bunch of reasons”.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had concluded the extradition proceedings against Kevin Kang’ethe, who is wanted by authorities to face trial in the US. State prosecutor Vincent Monda told Milimani chief magistrate Lucas Onyina a copy of the extradition proceedings had been handed to Kang’ethe’s lawyers namely David Muthama and Anthony Kago.

However, the court was informed that Kang’ethe has decided to dismiss his two lawyers and is now opting to represent himself, causing a delay in the start of the extradition proceedings.

On listing the reasons, he claimed that he was not given the opportunity to choose his own legal representation and alleged that the lawyers who previously represented him were provided by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
