The Menengai Geothermal Power Plant is the second project to commence construction as part of the five-year UK-Kenya Strategic Partnership. This ambitious agreement aims to unlock mutual benefits by focusing on various sectors, including infrastructure development and environmental sustainability. It reflects the commitments made by both countries at the Climate Change Conference in Egypt in 2022 and the UK-hosted G7 summit in Carbis Bay two years ago.
These investments highlight the UK’s commitment to providing predictable, transparent, and reliable funding without burdening Kenya with unsustainable debt. The recent ground-breaking ceremony at the Menengai Geothermal Power Plant marks a significant step towards realizing these goals and showcases Kenya’s commitment to global leadership in combating climate change.
