List Of President Ruto’s New High Court Judges

President William Ruto has announced a list of 20 newly appointed Highcourt judges.

The President approved all names given to him by the Judicial Service Commission in a special Kenya Gazette published on December 5, 2022.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 166 (1) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya, I. William Samoei Ruto, President, and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint (these judges),” the statement by the President read in part.

The JSC said in a statement that they had completed the review process for the individuals interviewed for the jobs. The JSC claimed that they were chosen on the basis of merit, gender balance, regional balance, and affirmative action.

  • Ms. Chirchir Sophie Chebet
  • Prof. (Dr.) Sifuna Nixon Wanyama, PhD
  • Ms. Shariff Mwanaisha Saida
  • Nyaga Heston Mbogo
  • Chigiti John Mugwimi
  • Mulwa Peter Mutua
  • Nthiga Lawrence Mugambi
  • Mutai Gregory
  • Wananda John Robert Anuro
  • Mohochi Samwel Mukira
  • Olel Francis Rayola Ochieng Odhiambo
  • Dr. Githiru Freda Mugambi
  • Mr. Magare Dennis Kizito Ng’wono
  • Hon. Macharia Florence Wangari
  • Odera Teresa Achieng
  • Visram Aleem Alnashir

The JSC advertised for the position of High Court judges on March 14, 2022. The addition of 20 new judges brings the overall number of High Court justices to 86.
