The Public Service Commission (PSC) unveiled Kenya’s top-performing public institutions for the Financial Year 2022/2023 on Tuesday, March 5. These rankings were determined based on the institutions’ adherence to national values, principles of governance, and standards of public service.

Out of the 523 public organizations assessed, notable entities such as the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board (KASNEB) emerged within the top 10 performers.

Topping the list was KASNEB, followed by the National Environment Trust Fund (NETFUND) in second place and Kibabii University in third place.

Among the other distinguished institutions were the Capital Market Authority (CMA), Kenya Trade Network Agency (KENTRADE), Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAs), Commodities Fund, Water Sector Trust Fund (WSTF), and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

These entities showcased commendable strides in service delivery enhancement, upholding professional ethics, ensuring good governance, transparency, and accountability.

Additionally, KRA and the aforementioned institutions received accolades for their performance management, fair distribution of opportunities and resources, and involving the public in policy-making processes.

The assessment criteria also encompassed parameters such as efficiency, effectiveness, prudent resource utilization, sustainable development practices, as well as the promotion of devolution and decentralization in public service delivery.

The Public Service Commission emphasized that these criteria resonate with the fundamental principles outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Kenyan Constitution.

Article 10 underscores national values and governance principles including patriotism, national unity, power-sharing, adherence to the rule of law, democracy, and citizen participation.

Conversely, Article 232 mandates public institutions to uphold elevated standards of professional ethics, ensuring efficient, effective, and economical resource utilization.
