Kisumu governor reshuffles county executive committee to enhance service delivery

Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o has announced a major reshuffle of the County Executive Committee (CEC) in a move aimed at improving service delivery. The changes affect key portfolios, including energy, public service, and environmental management.

The reorganization, made under the powers granted by Article 179(2)(b) of the Constitution and Section 30(d) of the County Government Act, introduces three new appointments to the county government’s leadership.

Hon. Jerom Okoth Ochieng’ has been appointed as the County Executive Committee Member in Charge of Energy, Transport, Roads, and Public Works, a portfolio critical to infrastructure development and mobility in Kisumu.

Hon. Salmon Orimba has been named County Executive Committee Member in Charge of Public Service, County Administration, and Participatory Development, a role essential for governance and service coordination.

Hon. Judith Oluoch has taken over as County Executive Committee Member in Charge of Water Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change, reflecting Kisumu’s increasing focus on sustainable resource management and environmental conservation.

Governor Nyong’o also nominated Dr. K’Onyango Charles Otieno for vetting by the County Assembly for the position of County Executive Committee Member for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing, and Urban Development.

“In order to improve service delivery, I have today made the following changes in the County Executive Committee,” Governor Nyong’o stated in the official press release.

This reshuffle signals the county government’s intention to enhance efficiency in governance and development, addressing critical issues such as urban planning, climate change adaptation, and infrastructure growth.
