Kisumu County Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o has announced a reshuffle of Chief Officers within his administration, aiming to enhance service delivery and streamline governance. The changes, which touch on various crucial departments, signal a strategic move to optimize the county’s operations and improve outcomes for the residents.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Governor Nyong’o emphasized the importance of the reshuffle in reinforcing the county’s governance structure.

“This reshuffle is necessary to strengthen our administration and ensure that we are aligned with our development goals. Our priority is to deliver quality services to the people of Kisumu,” he stated.

One of the significant changes includes the reassignment of Paul Waweru, previously the Chief Officer for Finance, to the Lake Front Development Corporation. This portfolio is considered vital for Kisumu’s economic growth and environmental sustainability.

Benter Omollo, who was in charge of Public Service, County Administration, and Participatory Development, has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer of the Kisumu Revenue Board. Her appointment is seen as a strategic move to enhance revenue collection and financial management within the county. Omollo expressed her dedication to her new role, saying, “I am honored to serve in this capacity and will work tirelessly to ensure we meet our revenue targets and improve our financial health.”

Fredrick Osewe, formerly managing the Education, Technical, Innovation, and Social Services Department, will now head the Energy Department. His role is critical in addressing the county’s energy needs and driving sustainable development.

Timothy Nyakwamba has taken over the Trade, Tourism, Industry, and Marketing department, which is crucial for promoting Kisumu as a key tourist destination and boosting economic growth.

“Tourism and trade are central to our county’s prosperity, and I am committed to advancing these sectors,” Nyakwamba remarked.

The reshuffle also saw Daniel Okia appointed to lead the Agriculture department, with a focus on boosting agricultural output and tackling food security challenges. Meanwhile, Dr. Lusi Ojwang has been retained in the Medical Services, Public Health, and Sanitation Department, ensuring continuity in the county’s healthcare services.

Governor Nyong’o concluded, “These changes are designed to inject new energy into our administration, and I am confident that our team will continue to deliver on our promises to the people of Kisumu.”
