A Norwegian woman is urgently seeking justice after being sexually assaulted at gunpoint by a five-man gang in Nairobi. The tourist, who was on holiday in Kenya, reported the horrific incident to Kilimani Police Station on July 26, 2024, under OB Number 02/26/07/2024, but claims that authorities have yet to take significant action.

According to the victim’s report, she was lured into an apartment in Kilimani by someone she knew, where the gang assaulted her and stole her cash and mobile phone. The men then humiliated her further by taking nude photos and videos, which they have used to blackmail her.

“They have been taking me in circles without explaining the way forward. The suspects are now threatening and warning me against pursuing the matter, which I find weird,” the woman said in a statement to NTV Kenya.

Despite being issued a P3 Form, which confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted, the victim claims that Kilimani police have been unresponsive, causing her significant distress.

“After lodging her complaint, she was asked to obtain a P3 Form, which she secured on July 31, 2024. However, our client has informed us that the police have taken no further steps to advance the case,” her lawyer, Albert Kuloba, wrote in a formal complaint.

The victim has since escalated the matter, filing a complaint with the Inspector General of Police and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mohammed Amin.

The letter, dated August 16, accuses Kilimani police of reluctance and calls for immediate action. Kuloba emphasized the seriousness of the case, stating, “An update on the investigation’s progress, including any actions taken and anticipated steps, would be provided within seven days.”

Kilimani Sub-County Police Commander Ben Kobia confirmed that the case had been reported and that investigations were ongoing, with plans to summon the suspects soon. Meanwhile, police have advised the woman to report any further threats from the gang, who are believed to be part of a larger extortion group operating in the Kilimani area.
