Kenya to host the 2024 Canada-Africa business conference

In a move aimed at bolstering economic cooperation between Canada and the African continent, The Canada-Africa Chamber of Business has announced the second edition of the Canada-Africa Business Conference.

Building on the success of the inaugural event in Botswana in 2019, the Canada-Africa chamber of business have partnered with the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), to bring the second edition to Kenya.

Scheduled for February 19th and 20th, 2024, the Canada-Africa Business Conference will span two days and encompass a range of activities including a comprehensive program hosted at the prestigious Muthaiga Country Club and site visits to key locations in Nairobi, Kenya.

The event is open to all corporate members of The Canada-Africa Chamber of Business, as well as specially invited guests and sponsors, in collaboration with KEPSA. This gathering aims to unite key players and stakeholders from various sectors, with an emphasis on Canada’s role as a trusted partner in African markets, leveraging Kenya’s strategic position as a gateway to the East Africa region.

Several sectors will be prominently represented at the conference, including medical care, infrastructure, energy, financing for Canada-Africa projects, and FinTech. Additionally, organizers are working on expanding their focus to encompass other sectors. With an overarching theme centered on the pivotal role Canada plays in enhancing trade and investment across the African continent.

President of the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business, Garreth Bloor, expressed his anticipation for the event’s program updates and the participation of leading decision-makers, he said.

‘’We look forward to announcing program updates, as we confirm the participation of leading decision-makers,” he further added ‘’Our previous engagements in Kenya have always been an incredible success and this is testament – in no small part – to the key role of Kenya and KEPSA in Canada-Africa trade and investment,’’

Ms. Carole Kariuki, Chief Executive Officer of KEPSA, shared her enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the forum’s potential to broaden opportunities in various sectors.

“We are excited to collaborate with the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business and look forward to the forum that will promote trade and investment between Canada and our great continent of Africa. This forum aims to widen the scope of available opportunities in medical care, infrastructure, energy, FinTech and project financing,” Said the KEPSA CEO

The second Canada-Africa Business Conference is poised to serve as a platform for dialogue and partnership, facilitating essential discussions and collaborations that will advance economic development, trade, and investment opportunities between Canada and Africa.

The event promises to play a vital role in deepening existing trade ties and forging new ones, ultimately benefiting both regions at a time when Africa-Canada trade was worth USD 15.2 billion in 2022 alone.
