One of the central objectives of the agreement is to boost trade ties between Kenya and the Comoros. Kenya’s exports to Comoros include beverages, spirit and vinegar, sugar, tobacco products, meat, and dairy products, while the country imports electrical equipment, furniture, and ceramics from Comoros. Kenya has a good opportunity to improve its blue economy by leveraging the expertise and policies of the island nation, which relies heavily on its ocean economy. Both countries recognize the importance of expanding their trade volumes and diversifying their export markets. The agreement paves the way for increased collaboration in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism. It encourages the exchange of trade missions, business delegations, and investment opportunities. By leveraging their unique strengths and resources, Kenya and Comoros aim to foster a more vibrant and mutually beneficial trade ecosystem.

The agreement also places emphasis on cooperation in the field of education. Recognizing the role of education in driving economic growth and development, Kenya and the Comoros have committed to sharing knowledge, expertise, and educational resources. This includes promoting student exchanges, joint research projects, and capacity-building initiatives. By facilitating educational cooperation, both countries can enhance human capital development, empower their youth, and cultivate a skilled workforce capable of addressing emerging challenges and driving innovation.

The two heads of state also agreed to abolish visa requirements for their citizens by the end of the year. Kenya, renowned for its diverse wildlife, stunning landscapes, and vibrant culture, is a popular tourist destination. The visa waiver for Comoros citizens is expected to attract more visitors from Comoros to explore Kenya’s tourist attractions. This, in turn, will contribute to the growth of Kenya’s tourism sector, creating new opportunities for travel agencies, tour operators, hotels, and other tourism-related businesses. It also paves the way for cultural exchanges, fostering mutual understanding and appreciation between the people of Comoros and Kenya.
