Karibu Connect Takes A Leap Forward in Bridging Kenya’s Digital Divide with Starlink

Karibu Connect, an internet connectivity provider in East Africa, has become the first authorized reseller of Starlink in Kenya. This partnership is a significant step towards Karibu Connect’s goal of bridging the digital divide and improving connectivity infrastructure throughout the country. By utilizing Starlink’s innovative technology, rural areas in Kenya will experience a transformative shift in their access to global communication, which will contribute to societal progress and economic growth, according to John Thuo, CEO of Karibu Connect.

Karibu Connect will extend Starlink’s high-speed and low-latency connectivity to various sectors in rural Kenya, including small businesses, industry, telecommunications, multi-dwelling units, education, tourism, hospitality, maritime, and government organizations. They will offer Starlink enterprise services for both fixed and mobile applications, including solutions for vehicles operating on the move or on boats and ships in both inland and offshore settings. Karibu Connect also provides round-the-clock assistance through their in-country support team, along with an online portal for seamless monitoring and management of all Starlink services. Additionally, they will offer tailored solutions for public Wi-Fi hotspots and 4G/5G backhaul.

The introduction of Starlink is expected to intensify competition in the internet business sector in Kenya. Safaricom, a major telecommunications company, recently announced its plans to launch satellite internet services in partnership with AST SpaceMobile, a competitor of Starlink. Safaricom and other Vodafone affiliates will share revenue with AST SpaceMobile on a 50/50 basis, while mutually agreeing to maintain exclusivity in their respective markets to ensure the success of the partnership.
