Former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe has secured a communication position at the Ministry of Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management, working under Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria. The CS verified the appointment, clarifying that it was made by the ministry rather than himself.
The appointment comes weeks after she was acquitted in Monica Kimani’s murder case which had gone on on for almost six years. Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi, who stood with Maribe while embroiled in the case, took it to his X to congratulate her on the new role.
“Congratulations, Jacque Maribe. May God bless you as you serve Asante @HonMoses_Kuria for standing with a generation, please keep doing good and stretching your hand,” he wrote.
Similarly Maribe, also expressed excitement over her new role, adding that the truth set her free. “Let us wait and see if the hand of God is revealing itself in my new appointment,” she said.
In a ruling on February 9, 2024, Justice Grace Nzioka found Jowie guilty of the murder in a series of events while Maribe was acquitted of charges against her. Justice Nzioka said the prosecution side did not provide adequate evidence to prove that she was guilty of the murder charges.
The judge further withdrew Jowie’s bond directing that he be held in custody until the day of his sentencing. Furthermore, his sentencing which was supposed to take place on March 8 was pushed to March 13.
