Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has reassigned county commissioners around the country in an effort to improve service delivery.
In the most recent posting order, dated March 7, 2023, four County Commissioners were recalled, twenty (20) were reassigned, and fifteen (15) were retained at their existing workstations.
The County Commissioners from Herman Shambi of Nandi County, Mathias Rioba of Trans-Nzoia County, Michael Ivuto of Kirinyaga County, and Stephen Kihara of Embu County have been called back to the ministry’s headquarters for re-deployment.

Karuku Ngumo was transferred from Murang’a to Wajir, Amos Mariba was transferred from Nyandarua to Mandera, Nobert Komora was transferred from Tharaka Nithi to Marsabit, Paul Famba was transferred from Headquarters to Machakos, and Josephine Onunga was transferred from Headquarters to Taita-Taveta.
Others are Joshua Nkanatha (from Kiambu to Embu) and Onesmus Kyatha (both from Vihiga to Nairobi) (from Mandera to Nyamira).
Jack Obuo (Kiambu), Pius Mugambi (Nyeri), Joseph Biwott (Kilifi), Louis Rono (Lamu), Nayioma Tobiko (Kirinyaga), Stephen Kutwa (Baringo), and Caroline Mueni are some of the deputy commissioners who were elevated to county commissioner positions (Nandi).
Eight Deputy Commissioners were reassigned to the North Rift regions, including Kajiado North, Samburu East, Kajiado West, Transmara South, Tiaty West, and Tiaty East.
