The Department of Immigration Services announced a new Rapid Results Initiative this week to accelerate passport processing and collection.

Under the initiative, passports will be available for pickup at local Immigration offices for a limited number of applicants per day over the next 30 days beginning September 25.

The Department indicated there are currently 87,574 passports ready for collection at offices where applications were submitted.

The temporary measure aims to clear the backlog of uncollected passports and expedite the process for new applicants.

Here is how to check if your passport is ready:

  1. Go to the Department of Immigration Services website at immigration.go.ke
  2. Scroll down to the “Announcements” section on the homepage.
  3. Look for the list of counties and corresponding collection dates. Find the county where you applied for your passport.
  4. Click on your county’s list to access the names of applicants scheduled to collect passports.
  5. Search for your name on the list to confirm your collection date. Make note of this date.
  6. On your scheduled date, go to the Immigration office where you applied to pick up your printed passport. Make sure to bring your application receipt.
  7. Present your receipt to the Immigration officer to retrieve your new passport. Confirm all details are correct before leaving the office.

The list will be published every Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Kindiki warned those who fail to collect their passports during the period may have them disposed of in accordance with the law and face penalties for future applications.
