The National Transport Authority (NTSA) has introduced modifications to the application procedure for the new reflective number plates, aiming to enhance service efficiency. The authority stated that these changes have streamlined the application process. Here’s how to apply for the number plate:

  1. First log into your E-Citizen account. Proceed to select the NTSA new service portal, choose motor vehicles, and click on view.
  2. Proceed to click on motor vehicle services, then reflective plate. Under reflective plate, select plate type and counter collection office.
  3. Attach the required documents in PDF format. After that is done, scroll down and tick the declaration box, then click preview.
  4. Continue by submitting payment for the plate and clicking complete. After that is done, wait for a notification via SMS on when to collect your number plate. The process takes approximately seven working days.
  5. Once an application is approved, the motorist will receive an SMS notification asking them to collect their plates from the centers indicated during the application.

“We request motor vehicle owners who have received SMS alerts on the collection of reflective number plates to visit the centers they identified during the application process,” a statement from the authority read in part.

For a single reflective number plate, motorists will part ways with KES 1,550, while for a pair of number plates, motorists will pay KES 3,050.

Earlier, NTSA announced changes in the application process for logbooks, noting that the service was now available online through the E-Citizen platform. According to NTSA, all you have to do is log into your E-Citizen portal and select the new NTSA Service Portal.

After logging in, select the “motor vehicle services” available on the portal and click on view.

Consequently, the system will provide an option to request a duplicate logbook.

In line with the steps appearing on the screen, select the duplicate logbook and click next. The interface will then request that you select the reason for the duplicate.

Upon selecting the reason for applying for a duplicate logbook, proceed to fill in the necessary details and attach the documents in one pdf format as requested.

The latest updates in services offered by the NTSA are in line with the government directive to move all services to one platform.
