Governor Wavinya Ndeti condemns goons exploiting youth protests in Machakos

The Governor of Machakos County, Hon. Wavinya Ndeti, has issued a strong warning to individuals masquerading as protestors to vandalize and steal property. Speaking in Mbiuni, the governor condemned the actions of these goons, emphasizing that such behaviour will not be tolerated in Machakos. Her remarks came during the launch of a KES 35 million project aimed at combating locusts in the region.

The governor highlighted a troubling trend where certain politicians are allegedly exploiting the younger generation for their own agendas. “There are politicians who have interfered with Gen Z matters and hired goons to destroy our property,” she stated.

She made it clear that the citizens of Machakos have had enough of this disruption and emphasized the importance of peaceful demonstrations. “If our children want to demonstrate, let them demonstrate in peace because we know them, and they are not goons and do not steal people’s property,” she added.

This statement reflects growing concerns over recent incidents where protests have turned violent, leading to property damage and theft. The governor’s warning aims to distinguish between genuine protestors, often the youth advocating for their rights, and those who take advantage of these situations to engage in criminal activities.
