Uasin Gishu County, led by Governor Dr. Jonathan Chelilim Bii, is strategically steering towards economic transformation through innovative methodologies.

The administration, under Dr. Bii’s guidance, places a strong emphasis on the rejuvenation of the agricultural sector and the enhancement of essential services. As a result, the county has achieved a prominent position in agriculture and environmental affairs among the 47 counties.

Governor Bii, commonly known as Koti Moja, has been a stalwart advocate for citizen participation, following the precedent set by his predecessor, now Senator Jackson Mandago. His post-election moniker, “Gavana wa watu” (Governor of the people), resonates throughout the county’s 30 wards, reflecting a community-centric approach.

To translate the vision of public involvement into tangible actions, Governor Bii has abandoned the traditional practice of governing solely from the office.

Instead, he and his cabinet actively engage with residents at the grassroots level, prioritizing the direct delivery of services to the people. The commitment to decentralizing county functions is geared towards achieving a more impactful transformation of livelihoods.

Governor Bii’s “Nguzo Kumi” objective serves as a guiding principle for his administration’s endeavors, with weekends dedicated to touring the county alongside his entire cabinet. This initiative facilitates development by providing the public with a platform to voice concerns and prioritize issues.

Remarkable projects include the construction and rehabilitation of 30 cattle dips, bolstering the dairy and beef farming sector. The administration has also supplied essential acaricides to over 105 cattle dips, ensuring the health and productivity of livestock.

“In our community, livestock is highly regarded, and we want to ensure that we have good breed and healthy animals that can boost our productivity,” affirms Governor Bii.

Uasin Gishu County recently garnered national recognition with an impressive 63 percent rating in a poll conducted by Infotrak, reaffirming its dedication to propelling economic growth and enhancing the well-being of its residents.
