Former Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala and two others have been released on KES one million cash bail. Balala was charged with corruption in a Malindi court after he was accused of misusing his position while in the ministry.

Balala appeared before Malindi Chief Magistrate Joseph Mwaniki was charged alongside his former Principal Secretary Leah Gwiyo and 82-year-old Joseph Odero and they all denied the charges.

The former CS and PS pleaded  not guilty and were freed on KES 5 million bonds with an equivalent surety or Sh1 million cash bail.

Balala was taken into custody by anti-graft agency detectives on Friday.
