Former Cabinet Minister Linah Jebii Kilimo has assumed the role of Board Director at ChildFund International, as disclosed in a letter from Meg Audette, the Chief Organizational Effectiveness Officer.
Kilimo, the former Marakwet East MP, is slated to serve on the Board for an initial four-year term commencing January 2024, with the potential for a four-year extension contingent upon performance and mutual agreement, extending her term until approximately 2031.
Headquartered in Richmond, VA, USA, ChildFund International is a non-profit organization dedicated to aiding deprived, excluded, and vulnerable children in enhancing their lives, affording them the opportunity to thrive as adults, parents, and leaders.
ChildFund’s Board of Directors plays a crucial role in providing governance and accountability, ensuring the organization maximizes its impact in serving the community.
Linah Jebii Kilimo brings a wealth of experience, having previously been appointed by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta to chair the newly formed Anti-Female Genital Board in December 2013.
Her commitment to advocacy against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) was further demonstrated in March 2014 when she represented Kenya at the 58th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA, addressing the imperative to accelerate efforts toward the abandonment of FGM and promoting girls’ education.
Recognizing her dedicated efforts, Kilimo received “The Outstanding Women Leadership Award” on December 9, 2015, in acknowledgment of her impactful work in FGM campaigns.
Her appointment to ChildFund International’s Board of Directors marks another significant milestone in her ongoing commitment to championing the rights and well-being of vulnerable children globally.
