AfroAtlas, a Kenyan travel technology company, has partnered with Ethiopia Airlines to give the airline a new platform for marketing and distribution of its goods and flight bookings.

The company announced on Wednesday that it will provide the airline’s New Distribution Capability (NDC) platform, a program developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) with support from the travel industry to enable airlines to produce and distribute pertinent offers to customers according to Afro Atlas Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ahmed Ugas who was speaking during the signing of the partnership.

The platform combines various airlines with various technological platforms into a single hub, removing the need for the end user to visit multiple sites for various services on behalf of the airline, travel agents use the platform to make reservations for flights, lodging, transfers, travel insurance, and rental cars. The new agreement will give travel agencies and the customers they serve quick, simple access to pertinent deals and additional options to suit their needs.

The airline has joined Kenya Airways, which recently made history by being the first airline in Africa to incorporate NDC into its systems. Due to features like personalized shopping experiences, pricing autonomy, discounts, and ancillaries among others, NDC content has gained popularity among airlines worldwide.

Travel service providers, such as Expedia, an American online travel agency, and car rentals for transportation are partners of Afro Atlas. After suffering significant losses in 2020 and 2021 as a result of international travel restrictions put in place by nations at the height of the Covid-19 outbreak, the airline industry has been making strides toward recovery.
