United States First Lady Jill Biden is expected to begin her visit to Africa making it her sixth to the continent.
“Today, I’m heading to Africa for my sixth visit to the continent, and my first as First Lady,” Jill said on Tuesday.
Jill is scheduled to visit Namibia between February 22 and February 23, and Kenya between February 24 and February 26.
“My trip begins in Namibia, where a vibrant and engaged youth, drive a young and strong democracy. Then in Kenya, I will hear from those affected by the ongoing historic drought and food insecurity, which has been exacerbated by the ripple effects of Russia’s assault on Ukraine.” She wrote on Twitter.

While in Kenya, Jill Biden plans to meet with her Kenyan counterpart, Rachel Ruto, as well as other senior government officials.
The US Embassy noted in its announcement of the US First Lady’s visit to Kenya that Jill’s trip was intended to strengthen US relationships on the African Continent and advance regional interests.
She will also talk about the need to execute drought mitigation strategies nationwide and issues related to youth empowerment.

Security Measures Placed
Security agencies in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs directed that;
- Terminal two should be cleared of any aircraft and vehicles on Friday 24. February 2023 from 1100 hours to 1700hrs local time.
- Terminal two should be cleared of any aircraft and vehicles on Sunday 26 February 2023 from 0600 hours to 1800 hours local time.
“This is therefore to advise you to relocate your operations to Terminal I within the Stipulated time period to allow smooth facilitation of the VVIP and operations,” KAA said in a statement.
Jill Biden previously visited Africa in 2010, 2011, twice in 2014, and once in 2016, all during Joe Biden’s tenure as US Vice President. This marks Jill Biden’s first visit to Kenya as First Lady of the United States, and her third in Kenya overall.
