The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced the arrest of five suspects who were captured in a video displaying and  selling items they had stolen from their victims.

The video, which was trending on social media, showed the five suspects asking one of their victims to pick up his National Identification Card from them. Another suspect was heard asking another victim to retrieve his coat worth Sh50, as they don’t keep cheap stuff.

The suspects concluded by urging people to bring expensive commodities to the Christina Shusho concert set for December 31.

“Sisi tuko biashara, weeh DM,” one suspect said. This statement loosely translates to “we are in business; you text us if you want what we have.”

According to the DCI, the suspects are allegedly members of an organized criminal group that has been operating within the Sargoi area, Mombasa County.

The DCI stated that all the items displayed in the video, including three iPhones, a Samsung phone, a MeMojo phone, and a Bluetooth headphone, have all been recovered.

The suspects are now being held at Central Police Station in Mombasa, awaiting trial.
