Comedian David Oyando, popularly known as Mulamwah, has sent a notice of intention to sue his ex-girlfriend Caroline Muthoni Nge’the famously knowns as Carol Sonnie for defamation and child abuse.

In a letter dated 1st February 2024, Mulamwah’s lawyers accused Nge’the of making false and damaging statements about him on her YouTube channel @CARROL_MUTHONI, where she has over 100,000 subscribers.

The letter claimed that Nge’the had implied that Mulamwah was a “deadbeat father” and had neglected his parental responsibilities towards their minor child. It also alleged that Nge’the had reversed the money that Mulamwah had sent her for the child’s upkeep and had removed his name from the birth certificate without his consent.

The letter said that Nge’the’s accusations were “not only untrue but also detrimental to our client’s personal and professional reputation as he is a public figure”. It added that Nge’the’s actions had exposed Mulamwah to “online bullying, ridicule and threats of personal harm”.

The letter further stated that Nge’the had violated the child’s rights to privacy, identity and access to her father by posting images and videos of her on a channel that was used to propagate “abusive and defamatory content”.

Mulamwah’s lawyers demanded that Nge’the publicly retract the defamatory statements and offer a public apology, delete all images and videos of the child from her YouTube channel, and share a copy of the child’s current birth certificate and a written explanation for altering the child’s name without Mulamwah’s consent.

The letter warned that if Nge’the failed to comply within 10 days, Mulamwah would initiate court action on account of defamation and child abuse.

Mulamwah and Nge’the had a public breakup in 2021. Mulamwah then said he found it challenging to align with the lifestyle she sought, which seemed incompatible with his own values.
