Business people are tallying up their losses following a fire that erupted at City Stadium on the evening of Tuesday, January 30. The Kenya Red Cross verified the occurrence, indicating that the fire took place at the roundabout near Jogoo Road.

Motorists plying the road had earlier reported a huge smoke coming from the area with the majority trying to pinpoint the location of the fire.

“A fire outbreak has been reported affecting business premises near City Stadium, Nairobi County. Fire brigade, Red Cross Action Team and dispatch notified. More updates to follow,” the statement from Red Cross Kenya read.

Businessmen and women around the vicinity were seen stranded, some of them watch their businesses consumed by the fire.  Others whose businesses are adjacent to the ones ablaze attempted to salvage some of their products by moving back into the stalls and taking them out.

Volunteers were also seen pushing onlookers behind in an effort to contain the surging crowd
