The Chief of Defense Forces, General Francis Ogolla, and Inspector General of Police, Mr. Japheth Koome, toured the North Rift Region as Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) continues to pacify the region. The visit came after bandits raided villages and killed six people in attacks.
During their visit, they received an update on the security situation and advancements made since the multi-agency operation began in the six unstable North Rift counties.
In addition to praising the “OMU” multi-agency team for their committed work, the Chief of Defense Forces emphasized the value of collaboration between local communities and security services. He remarked that a number of initiatives and training sessions in the North Rift area had contributed to the main objective of bringing about stability and peace.
“We are totally committed to this operation, and as long as we are utilizing the Multi Agency Framework, our goal is the same.” Let’s keep interacting with the local government and the community at large,” he added.
IG Koome assured that they are dedicated to ensuring insecurity is addressed in the area and said Kolowa police station will get modern equipment to enhance service delivery. They later visited Kolowa Primary School to inspect the ongoing renovation in alignment with the presidential directive to renovate and reconstruct schools in the region.
There are new classrooms and abolition blocks, along with the renovation of other serviceable structures that have already been done. They reiterated the need for the local populace to embrace this gesture as the government continues with more developments in the region.
