Balala Lands Plum International Job Days After Exiting Cabinet

Former wildlife and tourism Cabinet Secretary (CS) Najib Balala has secured another job barely a week after handing over the tourism docket.

Balala has been appointed the Vice-President of Fauna & Flora International (FFI), a United Kingdom-based conservation organization.

“International wildlife charity FFI has announced the appointment of the Honourable Najib Balala, EGH, as the new vice-president. Hon. Balala has been Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife since January 2018 and has played a significant role in boosting tourism growth and stability in Kenya and in the African regional tourism sector,” said FFI in a statement.

Speaking after Balala’s appointment, FFI’s CEO Mark Rose lauded the former CS for his significant contribution to the wildlife sector in Kenya over the years he has served as the head of the docket.

The CEO also expressed his optimism that Balala would contribute significantly to the FFI’s agenda, owing to his rich vein of experience spanning over ten years.

“On behalf of the team at FFI, I am delighted to welcome the honorable Balala as Vice-President. he will be a global ambassador for FFI. Hon Balala has been incredibly influential in the wildlife and tourism sectors in Kenya and across Africa and we are very privileged to be able to benefit from this wealth of knowledge and experience,” said Mark.

Balala expressed his gratitude for the consideration on his Twitter account Upon learning of his appointment.

“Thank you for the appointment, Fauna and Flora International. I am grateful and honored to have been chosen to serve as FFI’s Vice President,” said Balala.

FFI boasts of over more than a century of existence and its impact across 40 countries in identifying and protecting endangered species and habitats from extinction.
