Ababu Namwamba Gifts NYS Officer Who Wiped His Dirty Shoes

Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts Cabine Secretary Ababu Namwamba has gifted a National Youth Service (NYS) officer who wiped his dirty shoes.

This is after a video went viral online yesterday, showing the officer,  Dickson Loyerer, wiping Namwamba’s shoes after the CS participated in a tree-planting exercise at NYS headquarters.

Speaking after he met Loyerer today in the ministry’s office in Nairobi, the CS said he was thrilled by the officer’s kind gesture, extending an offer to Loyerer to work in his office.

“Dickson Loyerer yesterday graciously volunteered to clean my muddy shoes after a tree-planting session at NYS headquarters where he works. Today we shared a cup of tea in my office, where he gave me NYS tips on grooming, discipline and skills. I have requested Loyerer to join my staff,” said Namwamba.

Kenyans online expressed dissatisfaction over the gesture in the clip that circulated online in the better part of Monday, saying it portrayed the CS in a bad light.

Namwamba went to the extent of requesting to tip the officer the action, but NYS Director General Matilda Sakwa declined the request stating that it is part of the training for the officers.
