Willis Raburu, the chair of the Nairobi Festival Committee, announced his resignation from the county leadership on Monday, citing the need for systemic change to improve service delivery and leadership.

Raburu said he had officially informed Governor Sakaja and his administration of his decision, and thanked them for the trust and opportunity they had given him during his time as chair.

“However, this decision is driven by a recognition of the pressing need for systemic change to enhance the effectiveness of our service delivery and leadership,” Raburu said in a statement. “It is clear that to better serve the county and its residents, a more comprehensive look at existing systems is essential, which to be fair, have already been instituted and I wish them all the best in this regard.”

Raburu said he hoped his resignation would serve as a catalyst for the necessary transformation that the county deserves. He said he remained dedicated to supporting the county from a different vantage point and would continue to work towards the betterment of the community.
