Kenya Airways (KQ), and airBaltic, the flag carrier of Latvia, have announced a strategic interline agreement to expand travel options across Africa and the Baltic.
Under this agreement, Kenya Airways will significantly extend its reach into Europe, with key connections via key European hubs such as Amsterdam, Paris, and Dubai.

With airBaltic’s extensive network currently linking the Baltic region to over 70 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus, this partnership opens up new opportunities for the KQ brand.
Moreover, the interline agreement will bring added convenience to airBaltic passengers. They will have the option to book through tickets to Nairobi and access smooth transfers to Kenya Airways’ extensive destinations across Africa. These destinations include Uganda, Tanzania, Seychelles, Mauritius, South Africa, and numerous other regional points within Africa.
Julius Thairu, Chief Commercial and Customer Officer at Kenya Airways, expressed the importance of this partnership, stating, “This partnership gives us an opportunity to explore and extend our reach in Europe, further diversifying our routes as we work towards serving our customers better. He further elaborated “Our aim is to provide connectivity for Kenya Airways customers and provide them with more travel choices across Europe.”

Thomas Ramdahl, Senior Vice President of Network Management at airBaltic, highlighted the advantages of this collaboration, stating, “In order to give our customers additional flexibility and travel options, we are glad to team up with Kenya Airways. By working together, we can give our customers seamless connectivity and more options when booking their travel between Africa and the Baltics.”
Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, collectively referred to as the Baltic countries, have a combined population of approximately 6 million. And are not only members of the European Union but are also recognized as high-income economies by the World Bank’s Human Development Index.
This move aligns with Kenya Airways’ current strategy of diversifying its route network through partnerships with other airlines.
