Konza City 88% Complete

A recent report, termed Konza’s Environmental, Social, and Governance Report, shows an 88% completion of the project. The smart city facility development stands at 55.0%, while the Conference facility stands at 59.0%. The Kenya Advance Institute of Science and Technology’s core buildings, science labs, accommodations, and administration stand at 17.6%.

During the launch of the report in a breakfast meeting with investors, the acting CEO, John Paul, said that the smart city embeds sustainability in key projects. He further said that the report highlighted key agendas, such as commitment to sustainable development goals, and highlighted how investors would be able to benefit from the report. He also highlighted some upcoming projects in Technopolis in the new financial year.

Technopolis seeks to locate smart agricultural farms in the Agri parcels to promote urban farming technologies for food security and to enable wildlife preservation in Technopolis’s 1000-acre wildlife corridor. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed with the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) during the event.

Under the MoU, UNESCO and Konza will strengthen digital entrepreneurship development, develop Konza Technopolis as a desired smart city, and advance the sharing of knowledge in the economy. The signed MoU also involved the Africa Center of Technologies and Study (ACTS), which seeks to promote research and development at Konza Technopolis and further develop skills for the digital economy.
