According to the MOUs, President Sergio Mattarella’s administration will assist Kenya’s health sector in achieving universal health coverage and bettering pharmaceutical production.

“We laud the Government of Italy for supporting our plan for Universal Health Coverage in Kenya. We are particularly encouraged by the positive steps taken to establish Nairobi as a medical hub.” President Ruto said.

The head of state revealed that Nairobi and Rome will resume partnership on the construction of the Arror, Kimwarer, and Itare dams as well as other water and sanitation projects, which are essential to Kenya’s agenda for food security and climate action as part of the agreements signed on Tuesday.

Under other agreements, Kenya and Italy agreed to hold bilateral talks to create and determine guidelines for political consultations at their respective foreign ministries.

Ruto stated that Kenya is grateful for Italy’s promise to assist Kenya in its efforts to reestablish regional peace, security, and stability.
