The Pharmacy and Poisons Board has appointed Dr. Jacinta Wasike as the acting CEO replacing Dr. Fred Siyoi following his retirement after serving for a period of ten years.
Prior to her current position, Dr. Wasike served as the institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs. This makes her the organization’s first female CEO, and she is expected to guide the PPB with her 20 years of industry experience.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta selected Dr. Rodgers Atebe as head of the PPB board in March last year, ending the parastatal’s long search for a CEO after Dr. Jackson Kioko’s term expired in 2020.
The Pharmacy and Poisons Board is the Drug Regulatory Authority established under the Pharmacy and Poisons Act, Chapter 244 of the Laws of Kenya. The Board regulates the Practice of Pharmacy and the Manufacture and Trade in drugs and poisons.

The Board aims to implement the appropriate regulatory measures to achieve the highest standards of safety, efficacy, and quality for all drugs, chemical substances, and medical devices, locally manufactured, imported, exported, distributed, sold, or used, to ensure the protection of the consumer as envisaged by the laws regulating drugs in force in Kenya.
Dr.Wasike attended the University of Nairobi and holds a masters in business administration from the Strathmore business school.
