FIFA, the world football governing body, has lifted the ban on Kenya on Monday, November 28.
According to a letter from FIFA Secretary-General Fatma Samoura to FKF CEO Barry Otieno, a delegation from FIFA and CAF would be sent to Kenya to determine the next steps.
“Upon the lifting of the suspension, a FIFA-CAF mission will be deployed to Nairobi in order to define the next steps for the FKF and to also meet with the newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Sports.” read part of the statement.

FIFA banned Kenya from all football activities in February 2022, after former Sports CS Amina Mohamed abolished the Football Kenya Federation in November 2021, following state interference in the country’s football operations, alleging corruption and embezzlement of funds.
In a press statement, Amina stated that her decision to disband the federation stood since no court order had been issued to vacate the one issued by H.I. Ong’udi upholding the disbandment.

“It is instructive to note that this decision rendered on May 10, 2022, has not been vacated/reversed and the FKF Transition Committee remains in office and in charge of football management in Kenya,” said Amina in a statement.
Kenya was unable to participate in any international competitions as a result. Kenya was barred from three continental events as a result of the ban, including the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifying matches, the CAF confederations, and Champions League matches.
FIFA says that the decision to withdraw the ban was decided irrespective of the ongoing inquiries and legal procedures.
“Finally, the lifting of the suspension of the FKF takes place without prejudice to the ongoing investigations and court proceedings at the national level. We thank you for taking note of the above and welcome this positive outcome. Yours faithfully, FIFA,” the statement read.
